Team History
Jim Leavitt coached them from their inaugral season in 1997 through a meteoric rise to the Big East, until he hit a player and was fired after the 2009 season. They really bottomed out recently, but Alex Golesh has them in back to back bowl games looking to build something more. They are planning on moving into an on campus stadium for the first time in their history in 2027.

In 2007 and 2008 they spent 8 weeks in the top 15 of the AP poll, with 4 of those being in the top 10. In 12 home games during this run they averaged over 50,000+ fans per game.
Rock Bottom
In 2021 they followed up a 1 win season with a 2 win season, and it was announced their rivals UCF were getting invited up to the big leagues without them.
Best Ever Player
George Selvie (DE, 2006-2009): A consensus All American in 2007 and then a first team All American in 2008. He is 2nd to only Khalil Mack in career tackles for loss at the collegiate level.
Best Ever Coach
Jim Leavitt (1997-2009): Not only has the most wins in program history, he has about 4 times as many as the next guy. The school is inducting him into their hall of fame this season.
