Team History

FIU started playing football in 2002, and joined the FBS in 2004. Under Mario Cristobal and Butch Davis they've shown flashes of success, appearing in 5 bowl games and winning the 2010 Sun Belt championship. They haven't done better than 4-8 in the last 5 seasons, but new coach Willie Simmons may provide some reasons for optimism for how well he did at FAMU.

Quick Facts

Peak of Program

In 2011 they were coming off their Sun Belt championship season and won 8 games, including victories over Louisvile, UCF, and rival FAU.
