Team History

They Joined the NCAA in 1973 and began playing at the division 2 level. In 1995 they jumped up to the FCS level. And then in 2023 they jumped up to the FBS level where they immediately made a bang with back to back 9 win seasons. They have 25 conference titles and a division 2 national championship. With Rich Rodriguez off to West Virginia, we'll see if they can keep up the hot start.

In 2024 they won the CUSA Conference Championship in only their 2nd year of FBS play behind the strength of the #11 scoring offense in the country.

Rock Bottom

In 2001 their fiercest rival Troy joined FBS and left them behind, at the same time Jacksonville State was in the middle of 4 consecutive losing seasons.

Best Ever Player

Zerrick Cooper (QB, 2018-2021): The programs career leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns. Led them to a victory over Florida State in 2021.

Best Ever Coach

John Grass (2014-2020): Won 6 conference titles in 7 years, setting them up for their recent FBS promotion.
