Team History
The Bobcats had a few bright spots sprinkled into a lot of losing for most of their history. But since Frank Solich took over 20 years ago they have been one of the more consistent G5 programs out there. In the 42 years before he took over they had 11 winning seasons, he put up 12 in a 16 year tenure. His successor just rattled off three 10 win seasons in a row before leaving for Charlote this offseason.
Quick Facts
Peak of Program
Probably this past year, for all the success I mentioned in the overview this was their first conference championship since the 60's. Albin's run also showed this program may be more than just Solich.
Rock Bottom
From 1983-1995 the program never won more than 4 games in a season, six of these seasons only saw 1 or 0 wins.
Best Ever Player
Nathan & Kurtis Rourke (QB's 2017 - 2023): This may be cheap, but I love how a program had 2 brothers be their starting QB's for 7 consecutive seasons and they just so happened to be 7 of the best years in school history. Not to mention both brothers are top 3 in the schools career passing yards and passing touchdowns lists.
Best Ever Coach
Frank Solich (2005–2020): Absolutely revived this program. Ended his career on a 12 year run of never having a losing record in conference play.
