Team History
I know you hate to be here, but welcome to the club. In the equivalent of power conferences for pretty much their entire history, they are one of the big losers of recent shuffling. They have a losing record historically because of that level of competition, but have bright spots some G5 schools could only dream of. Trent Bray is entering his second year trying to get back to the success they had under the previous tenure.

In 2000 they went 11-1 finishing #4 in the final AP Poll. They blasted a top 10 Notre Dame team in the Fiesta Bowl. Spliting a share of the PAC-10 championship, they also bested their rival Oregon in a matchup of top 10 teams.
Rock Bottom
From 1971 to 1998 they had 28 consecutive losing seasons. 17 of those seasons came with just 2 or fewer wins, only 2 of those seasons even reached 5 wins. Ouch.
Best Ever Player
Steven Jackson (RB, 2001-2003): A two time 3rd team All American, Jackson had ran for 1500+ yards and 15+ touchdowns each of those seasons. He ended up going in the 1st round of the NFL Draft.
Best Ever Coach
Mike Riley (1997–98, 2003–14): OSU’s winningest coach with 93 victories, six bowl wins, and Pac‑10 Coach of the Year. His tenure included historic upsets and program stability.
