Team History
A historic program in a football rich state that has only taken their program to the FBS within the last 15 years. Shortly after they joined the Sun Belt where they consistently struggled until GJ Kinne came to town. He has posted back to back 8 win seasons behind high flying offenses, and will be back to do it again next year. They are rumored to be the 8th PAC football school.
Quick Facts
Peak of Program
These past two seasons are their two best record wise and their only trips to bowl games (which they won both of). They averaged 5,000+ more fans per game last year than they did 2 years ago before Kinne arrived.
Rock Bottom
From 2015-2020 they went 6 seasons in a row never winning more than 3 games. 5 of their 15 wins in this stretch came against FCS competition.
Best Ever Player
David Mayo (LB, 2012-2014): First team all Sun Belt and Sun Belt defensive player of the year in 2014. Drafted in the 5th round.
Best Ever Coach
G.J. Kinne (2023–): Led Bobcats to only bowl appearances and first time with consecutive winning records at the FBS level. No other choice and hopefully they make the most of getting coach back for year 3.
